I’ve been a fan of Reece Wynans’s playing since I first saw him play on Austin City Limits with Stevie Ray Vaughan when I was a kid. I can’t even begin to tell you what a huge honor it was to have him sit in with me and Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Franklin, TN show a few days ago. He is without a doubt, one of my biggest keyboard-playing influences.

I was trying to copy all his licks when I was a teenager. And then, when I was 15 years old, I couldn’t believe my luck when he started sitting in every Monday night with Mike Henderson And The Bluebloods at the Bluebird Cafe, just a couple miles from my parents’ house.

I think every young aspiring musician has a moment when they think they’re good at their instrument and then they see someone who is a TRUE master, and it makes them want to go home and practice. Reece was that master for me. The first time I saw him play boogie woogie piano at the Bluebird, I was sitting about 5 feet away from him watching every note. And it was right then and there that I realized that I sucked at the piano! 😂🥴 I practiced a whole lot after that! Thank you for all the inspiration, Reece!! You are a living legend, and you sound better than ever.

It was a beautiful day for @touchofbrews Fest on Saturday in Nashville. I played a fun set with my pals @dustinransommusic on drums and @richiebrins on bass.

The BIG news is that it was my nephew Ellis’s first concert!! 🥹😍👶
